A chance to make the reigningSexiest Man Alive blush? We couldn't help ourselves. Krasinski is six months into his reign as People's annual titleholder. Like many of the leading men before him — Chris Evans! John Legend! Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson! — the actor sat for a photo shoot and interview, as is tradition. He gushed about his wife, Emily Blunt, and how he hoped the hunky honor would relieve him from household chores. I had to do a wellness check on Krasinski since his crowning in November. Why? Well, hisFountain of Youthcostar Eiza González laughed that he's "really suffering through" the press tour for their Apple TV+ film. "Every time people bring it up, he gets red!" she told Yahoo Entertainment when I broached the topic. View this post on Instagram A post shared by People Magazine (@people) It's clear why Krasinski was chosen. The magazine, which has been anointing Hollywood's leading men with the title since 1985, doesn't necessarily crown the biggest star of the year. Instead, their choices tend to skew more toward a person who has broad appeal to the masses. (Looking at you, People's Sexiest Man of 2017, Blake Shelton, and Paul Rudd, who was crowned in 2023.) In 2012, a People editortold USA Todaythe team looks at comments on their celebrity coverage throughout the year to guide their choice. Reporters also poll female stars about who should get the Sexiest Man Alive. Sure, looks are a factor, but it's more than that. Krasinski is well-liked by his peers. Both men and women enjoy his movies and TV shows. Fans want to date him, romantics ship his relationship with Blunt and people want to be his best friend. It's also worth mentioning that the magazine won't name someone who won't play ball (cough: Ryan Gosling) andthey want a starwho is comfortable "owning" the superlative. Enter the 45-year-old actor. Krasinski may not realize the universality of his appeal, though, or has nailed modesty (he's an actor, after all). He thought he was "being punked" when he found out he nabbed the honor. "That's not how I wake up, thinking, 'Is this the day that I'll be asked to be Sexiest Man Alive?' And yet it was the day you guys did it," he said in the cover story. Don't be fooled, though. This isn't the first time Krasinski embraced his sexier side in print. He setthe internet ablazewhen, in 2015,his Men's Healthphoto shoot showed he's more than just sweet Jim fromThe Office. "Funnyman John Krasinski Shows Off His New SEAL-Fit Body" was the headline of one article, which did just that as he posed in a black T-shirt. So it's no surprise then that Krasinski said he's actually "feeling pretty good" six months into his Sexiest Man Alive reign. "I mean, I'm at the peak now, right? So from here, it all goes downhill until I lose the crown," Krasinski said. "I'm going to enjoy this moment right now." González co-signs the title. "He's the best. I didn't have the pleasure of knowing him before. I met [his wife] Emily [Blunt] before, who's incredibly funny. He's just such a warm human being that in the first 10 minutes of being around him, he makes you feel so welcomed," she said. Krasinski and González's banter is on full display inFountain of Youth. Director Guy Ritchie's family-friendly movie follows two estranged siblings (Krasinski and Natalie Portman) who reunite to go on a global heist to find the mythological Fountain of Youth. As their adventure takes them all around the world, González's character is hot on their heels to stop them from finding immortality. "When you have [John's] energy, it allows for really good banter," she explained, "and he comes up with great ideas." González also praised Krasinski's comedic skills, which he honed filmingThe Officefor nearly a decade. "When you're improvising so much, that allows and gives you a whole other quality as an actor," she said. "I was really happy to be around that energy." Fountain of Youthpremieres on Apple TV+ on May 23.
Long may he reign. John Krasinski is enjoying the 'peak' of his Sexiest Man Alive title.
