Burlesque The Musical— a stage adaptation of the 2010 fan-favorite film starringChristina AguileraandCher— is coming to London's Savoy Theatre this summer, with performances running from July 10 to Sept. 6. Moviestore/Shutterstock Like the movie, the musical will follow Ali as she discovers an underground club where sequins, seduction and sisterhood reign supreme — though the action moves from Los Angeles to New York City, now, where Ali is searching for her mother. The book is written by Steven Antin, who also directed the film, with additional material by Kate Wetherhead. Original songs from the movie penned by Aguilera, Sia and Diane Warren like "Welcome to Burlesque," "Express," "Show Me How You Burlesque," "Bound to You" and "You Haven't Seen the Last of Me" will all be featured in the stage show. There will also be new music by Hall and newcomer Jess Folley. Folley will leadBurleque, too — stepping into Aguilera's high-heeled shoes as Ali, the small-town girl with a big voice. The actress, who wonThe Voice Kids UKand later triumphed inX Factor: The Bandwith her group RLY, previously played the role of Ali to critical acclaim during the show's out-of-town tryouts in Manchester and Glasgow. She'll be joined by Broadway star and Tony nominee Orfeh who will play Tess, the no-nonsense club owner made famous on screen by Cher. Best known for her scene-stealing turn as Paulette inLegally Blondeon Broadway, the actress was most recently seen in New York City inPretty Woman: The Musical. Her stage credits also includeSaturday Night Fever,FootlooseandFascinating Rhythm. Hall will have a role in the musical, too. He'll play club stage manager Sean, Stanley Tucci's character in the film. Other cast members include Olivier Award winner George Maguire as Vince (Peter Gallagher, on screen), Asha Parker Wallace as Nikki (Kristen Bell's role), and Paul Jacob French as Jackson (who Cam Gigandet played).
