Scotty and Gabi welcomed sonMerrick Averyon October 24, 2022, so the brothers should be about three years apart in age. The top reply in the comments on the post about the new baby is McCreey'sAmerican Idolbuddy and runner-up that season,Lauren Alaina, who is actually due any day now with her first child, a girl. "Yay!!!! Congrats 🥹🥹🥹," wrote Alaina. Other fans were quick to offer their congratulations as well, with one writing, "We are so stinkin' excited for you guys!! Congratulations and can't wait to meet that sweet boy!! 💙." Another fan wrote, "Congratulations @scottymccreery and @gabimccreery to your little family 💙💙." When soon-to-be big brother Merrick was born in 2022, McCreery wrote on Instagram that he had "never known a love like this." "Thank yall for all of your prayers during this exciting season of life! Healthy baby and a healthy mama! Praise God🙌🏼🙏🏼," added the country singer. McCreery recently released a new single, "Bottle Rockets," that uses the 1994 Hootie and the Blowfish hit "Hold My Hand." It just kind of happened with songwriterFrank Rogers, who is a frequent collaborator with Hootie frontmanDarius Rucker. "I had mentioned how much I loved Hootie & the Blowfish, and Frank being from South Carolina and a frequent collaborator with Darius [Rucker] knew exactly what to do with that," McCreerytold Billboard. "We started strumming the tune that would eventually become 'Bottle Rockets,' and at the end of the makeshift chorus we had at that point, Frank went into 'Hold My Hand.' It fit like a glove. Everyone was laughing and high-fiving because we knew we were on to something. The song really just spilled out from there."
